Vadim Abdrashitov

Head of the jury for the 7th Breaking Down Barriers Film Festival.

Film director, Honored Artist of the USSR. People's Artist of Russia.

Filmography:

1974 – Ostanovite Potapova! (Stop Potapov!) (student film);

1976 – Slovo dlya zashchita (The Defense);

1978 – Povorot (The Revolt);

1980 – Okhota na lis (Fox Hunt);

1982 – Ostanovilsya poezd (The Train Has Stopped);

1984 – Parad planet (Parade of Planets);

1986 – Plyumbum (Lead);

1988 – Sluga (The Servant);

1991 – Armavir (Armavir);

1995 – Pyesa dlya passazhirov (A Play for Passengers);

1997 – Vremya tantsorov (The Dancers' Time);

2003 – Magnitnye buri (Magnetic Storms).

All the aformentioned films have received state and professional awards in Russia, and prizes at international festivals: in Berlin, Venice, Locarno, etc.

Mr. Abdrashitov heads the ARK-film studio and Mosfilm, and is vice president of the Nika National Film Awards, as well as a professor at the Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography.
