Jon Alpert

American reporter and investigative journalist. He has collaborated with NBC, PBS, and HBO. Over the course of his career, he has won 15 Emmy Awards and was nominated for a 2010 Academy Award for “China’s Unnatural Disaster: The Tears of Sichuan Province.” He has reported from Vietnam, Cambodia, Iran, Nicaragua, the Philippines, China and Afghanistan. He is one of the few Americans to have repeatedly filmed Fidel Castro and Saddam Hussein.

In 1972, Mr. Alpert founded Downtown Community Television Center – one of the first community media centers in the USA.
